Angel Chakma was a 24-year-old MBA student from Agartala , Tripura , whose death in Dehradun , Uttarakhand , in late 2025  sparked national outrage and massive protests over alleged racial violence against people from Northeast India . Incident and Death The Attack:  On December 9, 2025, Angel and his younger brother Michael were buying household items in the Selaqui area of Dehradun when they were confronted by a group of men. The Confrontation:  According to witnesses and the victim's family, the group allegedly targeted them with racial slurs, including "Chinki" and "Chinese". Mangesh Kalokhe , a former councillor and husband of Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) corporator Manasi Kalokhe, was brutally murdered in Khopoli, Raigad district, on  December 26, 2025 .   Key Details of the Incident The Attack:  Around 7:00 AM, Kalokhe was returning home on his motorcycle after dropping his son at school.
