Identical Twins - Murder Accused

Samuel and Jérémy Y. are 33-year-old identical twin brothers currently at the center of a high-profile criminal trial in France.
The case has gained international attention because their identical DNA has made it nearly impossible for investigators to determine which brother was responsible for specific violent acts. 
Case Details
  • The Charges: The twins are among five defendants on trial for a double murder that occurred on September 14, 2020, in Saint-Ouen, a suburb of Paris. They are also accused of multiple attempted murders during gang-related shootouts in October 2020.
  • The Victims: The victims of the September shooting were identified as Tidiane B. (17) and Sofiane M. (25).
  • The DNA Dilemma: Investigators found DNA on an assault rifle used in one of the gun battles. While the genetic material definitively belongs to one of the brothers, forensic experts cannot distinguish between them because they are monozygotic twins (sharing 100% of their DNA).
  • Tactics: Police testify that the brothers have historically exploited their twinship by swapping clothes, phones, and ID documents to confuse law enforcement and create reasonable doubt.
  • Courtroom Incident: During the trial in February 2026, the brothers were expelled from the courtroom after refusing to stand for the judge.

    15-year-old boy has been detained in  Gujarat for the murder of his elder brother and his pregnant sister-in-law at their home in the  Khodiyar Ashram  in Shobhavadala village, Junagadh district in Gujarat.
