Dilraj Singh Gill , a 28-year-old Indian-origin man from Vancouver, was shot and killed on January 22, 2026 , in Burnaby , British Columbia .  Incident Details Location : The shooting took place near the 3700 block of Canada Way in Burnaby around 5:30 p.m.. Connection to Crime Scene: Shortly after the shooting, a vehicle was found engulfed in flames in the 5000 block of Buxton Street . He was active between 1992 and 2006, primarily in Moscow's Bitsevsky Park.   Key Details of His Crimes The Nickname:  He was dubbed the "Chessboard Killer" because he aimed to kill  64 people , one for each square on a chessboard. Following his arrest, police found a chessboard in his apartment with squares marked or coins placed to track his victims.
