Benazir Bhutto Murder Case
On the fateful day of 27 December,2007 former Prime Minister of Pakistan Mrs. Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in broad daylight. She was daughter of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
Mrs. Benazir Bhutto was campaigning for her party Pakistan People Party(PPP) for the ensuing elections in January 2008. She was the chief of her party.
Mrs. Benazir Bhutto was heading a election procession in Rawalpindi after a rally at Liaquat National Park. First many rounds of gunshots were fired at her and soon after suicide bomber had denoted a powerful bomb. She was severly injured and was rushed to the Rawalpindi General Hospital. She declined dead at arrival by the hospital. Twenty people also were killed by the assault alongwith Mrs. Benazir Bhutto. She had survived earlier attempt on her life in Karsaz Bombing in which 180 people were killed.
Contradicting accounts as to cause of her death had emerged. Interior Ministry had declared cause of her death as skull fracture caused by the force of the explosion which resulted in her head banging to the sunroof. However her pary members blamed two gunshots which had hit her as the cause of her death.
Mrs. Benazir Bhutto had expressed fear to the then Pakistan government about attempt on her life and had asked for more security. Pakistan government had arranged for her security through private foreign security agencies Black Water and ArmorGroup. Neglegence and security lapses were blamed for the assassination and United Nations in its report stated after investigation of the incident stated that "Ms. Bhutto's assassination could have been prevented if adequate security measures had been taken."
Mrs. Benazir Bhutto was waving to her supporters after attending the election rally at the Liaquat National Park as she was leaving in a white bulletproof Toyota Land Cruiser. She was standing in the sunroof to appear before her supporters. The assailants fired at her multiple times of which two had hit her. Besides that a suicide bomber had denoted a powerful bomb close to the vehicle. She fell unconscious and was rushed to the Rawalpindi General Hospital. At the hospital doctors tried to resuscitate her but failed to do so and she was declared dead.
