An Additional District and Sessions Court in Madhya Pradesh sentenced 14 men to life imprisonment for the 2022 mob lynching of Nazir Ahmad . Case Background The incident took place in the early hours of August 3, 2022 , near Barakhad village in the Seoni Malwa area of Narmadapuram district, Madhya Pradesh . The Victims : Nazir Ahmad , a 50-year-old resident of Amravati , Maharashtra , was travelling in a truck along with Shaikh Lala and Sayed Mushtaq . They were transporting 28 cattle from Nanderwada village. The Assault : A group of self-styled cow vigilantes armed with sticks, lathis, and iron rods intercepted the truck. Suspecting illegal cattle smuggling, the mob dragged the occupants out and brutally assaulted them.
