22 August 2023: A United Kingdom neonatal nurse Lucy Letby is sentenced to life without any chances to bail by Justice James Goss. She was convicted with 7 counts of infanticiides and 6 counts of attempted infanticides. The in his judgement said that the murders and the circumstances were extraordinary situation required to sentence a female for life without the payroll. Till now only 3 female convicts have been meted with such sentences. “There was a deep malevolence bordering on sadism in your actions,”, judge James Goss said while he delivered the judgement.  A Manchester Court jury appeared in the court for 22 days to decide about the  case.  Nurse Lucy Letby killed the infants put under her care by injecting air into their nerves or by force feeding them etc.  She didn't appear in the court at the time of the judgement fearing violent reactions from the relatives and parents of the deceased infants.

Saturday 5 August, 2023: An encounter between Indian Military and Kashmir Militants is being carried out in the forest of Kulgam - Kashmir. There was intelligence feed that 3-5 had been hiding in the forest of Kulgam. A search operation was launched in the evening. The militants were positioned at a commanding height and were sitting in wait for the military contingent. As the contingent entered the forest they were ambushed. Between 5-7 military personnel were injured in the ambush and they were taken to a hospital where 3 of them succumbed to the injuries. Others are being treated for their injuries. One of them is supposed to be seriously injured.  The encounter and the search operation is still being carried out. 30 June,2023, Sunday: A suspected suicide bomber blew himself in a rally of Jamiatul Ulema Islam - Pakistan at Khyber Pakhtoon Khawan claiming 45 lives and injuring several others. Tehreke Taliban - Pakistan denied its involvement. Majority of the deceased and injured are members of Jamiatul Ulema Islam - Pakistan. 6 August, 2023 Sunday: Hazara Express running from port city of Karachi to Rawalpindi has been derailed killing at least 30 passengers. This is the confirmed death toll till now and it can go up as many passengers are still trapped under the debris of 10 derailed compartments. Railway Minister hasn't ruled out an act of terrorism as there were indications of some kind of blast. Railway has ordered an investigation in the matter.
